
Fudgy Brownies
4 squares, 2 oz. each, unsweetened chocolate
2/3 c. butter, softened
1 1/3 c. flour
½ t. salt
1 t. baking powder
4 eggs, room temperature
2 c. sugar
2 t. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Melt chocolate with butter in saucepan over very low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth. Remove from heat.
In a small bowl, mix together flour, salt & baking powder.
In a large bowl, beat eggs thoroughly, then gradually beat in sugar. Blend in chocolate mixture & vanilla. Add flour mixture & stir well. Stir in nuts.
Spread mixture in greased 13×9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes for moist, chewy brownies OR 30 minutes for cake-like brownies. (325 degrees if baking in glass pan.)
Cool in pan. Cut into squares or bars.
